On the thirtieth anniversary of John Lennon's death, we've grown accustomed to imagining that "there's no heaven . . . and no religion, too." But as any number of theologians (many of them Fortress Press authors) remind us, religion isn't the problem; narrow-mindedness is. Radical and liberal theology have always been comfortable moving beyond literalism in God-talk to discuss the deepest concerns we share--for the welfare of the poor and the future of our planet.
